Key Information for Students
The Key Information for Students (KIS) is a consistent and structured set of information, designed to strengthen the information available to users making decisions about tertiary education. The KIS will be published on each associated qualification page on a TEOs website in either a full table or as a button graphic. Both options will link to the full table on the central KIS website, found on our Careers website.
The Key Information for Students (KIS) will:
- enable you to make real comparisons between qualifications and across providers when deciding on what and where to study
- facilitate informed enrolment choices that align with your desired tertiary education outcomes.
Fees Free – eligible learners
Prospective learners who want to confirm their eligibility for free fees and find out how to apply for fees-free study, should go to feesfree.govt.nz. This website includes details of eligibility criteria for fees-free education and training, as well as a set of FAQs to help learners. There is also a call centre to provide support, 0800 687 775.
Learners are encouraged to check their eligibility before enrolling.

Accessing an apprenticeship completion record
If you completed your apprenticeship before 1993 we might be able to provide a record of completion for you from the Register of Apprentices.
To request a record of the completion of an apprenticeship, fill in the Request for Apprenticeship Record form (PDF, 169 KB) and email it, with a photocopy of your identification, to customerservice@tec.govt.nz or send it to:
